CONSIDERING TIME

Considering Time was presented as part of Future Ritual: Ceremony, a year-long programme exploring performance as a mode of gathering and ritual amidst the fragmentation of contemporary life.

“Our lives are ruled by time’s inevitable, relentless passage.  Always we have less of it than we had a moment ago. How do we move through time?  How does time move through us? What is its effect on the actions and body of the artist?  What is its impact on the audience?  How might we more consciously use time as an element in performance?”

5 hours durational performance action emerging from Marilyn Arsem’s week-long Intensive workshop ‘Considering Time’.

The process of stripping back a street found, discarded, upholstered dining chair. Working to shed its layers back to its bare skeleton, as far as posible, using only my hands and body as my tool.
